Sleepless in Centerville
Now that you've seen the happy side of our boy- you should know he's only that way when he's had sufficient sleep. Which he hasn't lately.
Unlike our unlucky neighbors (who's baby would LITERALLY go for 24 hours without sleep and then crash for 6... then repeat...) he hasn't taken this quite to the extreme. However, there was a stretch where within a 30 hour span he'd only slept about 5 hours. YUCK!
While things aren't quite that bad now, he's still not sleeping great. The worst is he is a picky sleeper- meaning he won't just sleep anywhere.
For example:
His Crib: NO WAY. You can count to 30 and I guarantee he'll wake up.
Mom's Arms: Certainly. This is his favorite. Unfortunately I sleep sitting up propped up by pillows about 1/2 the time to satisfy this kiddo.
The Swing: Have I mentioned that I love our swing (its actually my mother-in-laws). He'll be satisfied for about 2 hours or less in the swing.... if its moving. Don't you dare turn it off. We've since bought a lot more C batteries to fuel this lifesaver.
Anywhere else: sketchy. He picks and chooses.
Now- if our neighbor "ice-cold-goats-milk" holds him... of course he's out. Why do babies do that? Do just what is expected when someone else is holding them- just not mom or dad.
So- if any of you have any suggestions on how to get our almost 5 week old to sleep more normally- we're open to suggestions. We feel like we can't force him to sleep in his crib yet- he's so little! He gets so so so so so mad. But... really, sleeping sitting up is not so great.

Baths and Shoes
We gave StoneMason his first REAL (not sponge) bath the other day. In a nutshell... he HATED hit. Hated it. Hated it. We didn't take pictures during, but here are some from after. (Sorry they're not all rotated the right way...)

On a happier note, we tried on the shoes Aunt Ann made him! That's right.. MADE. They're way cute with cars on them (but if you hold them upside down the cars kinda look like frogs...). She even put traction on the bottom- though it might take a while till that comes in handy! Thanks sis!

Behold the power of... the swing!
As a new mom I'm trying to learn just what it is this little guy wants. Normally all he wants is food, or to go back to sleep. Well, we made a break-through yesterday. 1- he held onto a binki longer than 45 seconds, and 2- he fell asleep on his own. All thanks to... THE SWING.
*NOTE: see the little arm that is - as always-trying to break out of his swaddle. Drake and I think kids shouldn't get hands until they're older and can controll them.

He's Here!
First, I can take no credit for the neat slideshow below. Our wonderful neighbor took all the pictures and put it together! Thank you!
We thought we'd put up some stats about "StoneMason":
Born: about 4 am March 1st. Sadly- he missed leap year day by a few hours.
Weight: 6 pounds 13 ounces
Length: 19 1/2 inches
Hair? Yep- some dark stuff
Other: he has incredibly long feet and big palms too!! He has some big shoes to grow into!
I'm not sure what other "typical" questions there are. Those have been the most common as of yet. All in all, he's a great baby. He doesn't cry much at all. In fact, he doesn't DO much of anything except for sleep. He even prefers sleeping over eating! He's darling and I think he looks a lot like Drake, but I guess we'll see won't we.

We're making progress!
To satisfy curious people who have been asking (Ann!), here's a few pictures of the progress we've made! These aren't the greatest pictures, but they'll have to do.
Here's me at 5.5 months.
Here is at Christmas... about 7 months along...

and here we are about a week ago. He's getting big!
Only six weeks left!!!

7 weeks and 5 days left!
I've gotten several emails the last few days from friends and family telling me we ought to update our blog. (I had no idea anyone knew we had a blog!) So, I guess I'll give a brief update- though the title says it all. We're almost there! We don't have any recent ultrasound pictures to post, but he's getting big! He (we don't have a name yet!) LOVES to kick and is extremely active. Especially at night. I hope this isn't an indicator of his sleep patterns already!
Leif is getting ready for session- which starts next week. He'll have a couple of extra jobs on top of his own due to the fact that they had another analyst switch jobs. This is the busiest time of year from him. Session goes until March 5th and that last week is CRAZY BUSY! He's asking if I'll please have the baby after the 6th! (We're due March 10th) We'll see what I can do...
I hope this satisfies our curious and few blog visitors. I'll post pictures as soon as I have them!
