Projects

With a little inspiration from sisters and friends, I tackled a few of my projects.
I forgot to take "before" pictures of the kitchen curtains. They weren't that bad- but I like the new ones a lot better.

The cushions took a bit more work. Before... and after.

Did we mention he turned one...

Oh.... almost a month ago. Boy am I slow. Here's proof.

I am king for the day. Can you tell by my smug look? I even got Dad to make me chocolate chip pancakes. I ate them.

Dad took a video of me eating my cupcake.... mom can't figure out how to upload it - but it was good too. Why don't they let me eat cake every day?

Presents!!

I really, REALLY like that swing.
Thanks everyone!

Love

This little boy LOVES the tub. LOVES it. Adores, idolizes, LOVES the tub. He also loves to put things IN it. At the moment- he's trying to figure out how to get in it too- with all the lovely things he put there. This includes dirty laundry (that he pulled out of the container), socks, Dad's nice white shirts, and yes, even his toothbrush. He's wondering why I'm laughing.

PS He's now learned how to "climb" in himself. Twice its been a head-dive.

Wired Differently.

Me: Honey, will you cover the cookies.
King: Sure.

I would never have even thought of this. It was a great laugh.

Besides the obvious difference in the amount of hair-
which parent do you think little Mason looks like?

Compromises

Compromises are very... interesting around our house. I used to think they were a two-way thing. You know, I give a little, you give a little. Here's how they go now.

Me: Son, no more pulling things out of drawers and scattering them around the bathroom.
Son: Ok, then I'll yell about it.
Me: How about you play with your toys right next to you while I just brush my teeth and comb my hair.
Son: No deal. I get the drawers, or you get nothing.
Ok: We'll compromise. I'll get ready, and you destroy my bathroom. Deal?
Son: Deal.

We have similar conversations about cupboards, plants, shoes, and stairs about every other minute. Who's running the show here anyhow?

Wasting Time

Every time Mason goes down for a nap I think... hm mm, what should I do first. Inevitably, I end up checking my email first, of course. Today- although my list of things to do was miles long (make dough, make dinner, clean house, put away painting things, put away everything stuffed on kitchen table, pay bills, balance budget, do the laundry.... you're getting the idea) I looked at blogs too. I found a friend's blog off of another friend's blog, and that led to another and another... and now its been... oh an hour. My son will be up ANY minute and what have I done.... absolutely nothing. But gosh it was fun.

Domestic Me.

Bread. Home-made bread.... in the breadmaker. Usually it turns out very, very dense and hard as a rock. Occasionally it is somehow different and rises through the roof and sticks to the top of the breadmaker. But hey, it's light and fluffy then.

See... sticking to the top.
Occasionally I cook. Usually its Pasta-roni. Every once in a while I go crazy and use all four burners (and the oven is being used too!) and cook a gourmet meal. This happens to be chicken fettichini alfredo with green beans over noodles.
Sometimes I get sick of what little decorating I have done and move/rearrange it all. Here I moved all our pictures from a different wall and put them on the stairs. The main motivating reason behind this was the top picture used to be all by itself covering our electrical panel... and it looked strange. Now, you'd never know... except I just told you.
Go me. Domestic Me.

Sick

So my poor boy has been sick on and off for a while. Cough, never-ending cough, croup, fever, you name it. This seemed to be the only face I could get out of him for a while. Poor guy. He wanted to be held non-stop. Fortunately he's better now and back to his happy self. Phew. Though I think my arms have gotten a lot stronger.
